The Beginning: Platinum Hosting started out as a web design and development firm in late 2001. Daniel Sheppard founded the company to provide low cost, high quality web design services to the northern parts of Ontario. A year later, Daniel decided that the company should also offer web hosting services in addition to web design. Platinum Hosting was founded.
Starting with a dedicated Celeron 1.3 server from EV1 servers, Daniel started to offer web hosting services to design clients, as well as global users by advertising on Web Hosting Talk and various hosting directories. In the beginning, Platinum Hosting used a simple database with client information and 2checkout, a third party payment processer to generate monthly invoices. The control panel for the hosting customers was Ensim.
After a few months, a Modernbill license was aquired to aid in the order/billing process and bring automation to the signups. Eventually, a Pentium 4 server from EV1 Servers was purchases instead of the Celeron to attempt to improve preformance.
Present Day: Currently, Platinum Hosting is continuing to expand, and with the addition of some new staff, Platinum Hosting hopes to be able to provide a better service to the customer. Currently, preparations are underway to create a in-house control panel, as well as some modifications to the current control panel. Platinum Hosting is also working on developing a statistics and logging package for the customers.
